Startups with focus on ‘Fighting The Spread’ tech solutions experienced surge in demand during lockdown

With almost half of the year already gone, economies are now starting to open up in phases as they tackle the novel coronavirus. People have now realized that there’s no escaping the virus and now have settled to live with it.

There are a number of startups that have shifted their focus to tackle the problem at hand, social distancing. Startups like Staqu, Park+ and Magneto CleanTech are some of the startups that have gained popularity in the past few days.

Staqu

Staqu is artificial intelligence (AI) security-based startup that offers video analytics platform, dubbed Jarvis, to let organizations check if government directives are being followed, based on CCTV-based analytics in real-time.

Co-Founder Atul Rai, who is also a part of the Covid-19 Response Committee formed NITI Aayog, said “Through the analytics from the cameras, Jarvis will send real-time alerts to check how many people are entering a lift, wearing masks, maintaining social distance and hygiene.”

Jarvis uses a combination of thermal sensing and face-recognition technologies that allow corporates to identify people who may show signs of illness, all in real-time. Adhering to the laws of privacy, the company ensures that the data is anonymized and privacy is not compromised.

Park+

Gurgaon-based Park+ has partnered with malls in Delhi, Bhopal, Mumbai, and Coimbatore, to control the entry of people in the malls. The customer secures a parking spot in the mall before leaving for it. Then the customer is asked to scan a QR code upon entry to the mall, which is verified via an OTP. The app also features an option to pay digitally, curbing the use of cards.

Magneto CleanTech

Magneto CleanTech, a startup focused in purifying air, has seen a surge in orders since the lockdown began. They offer an ‘add-on’ that can be attached to any AC, saving the customer’s cost of buying a dedicated air purifier. The company is currently working closely with the government to add these magnetic air-purifying modules in transit systems such as buses, railways, and metros.
