BeeHero, a smart-beehive solution company, raises $4Mn in latest funding round

You may have never heard about it, neither did we. BeeHero, an agri-tech startup, is employing smart beehives to maximize crop yields by offering ‘Pollination as a Service’.

Honeybees are used around the world to pollinate crops, naturally, but the farmers have been deprived of this facility for a long time now. There have been techniques and procedures but none are precise nor modern. BeeHero aims to change this situation by treating hives as a living thing as well as an IoT device that tracks health and pollination progress in real-time.

BeeHero ensures healthy and hyper-efficient bees by continuously tracking and optimizing pollination through Machine Learning and low-cost IoT sensors, which are embedded in smart-beehives. These smart-beehives monitor the health of bees as well as the beehive and report it in real-time. You can monitor the data provided by the smart-beehive through a dashboard and then deploy these in the field where it’s required. The dashboard also identifies dangerous conditions early, so that plans made for things like replacing or shifting less or more efficient hives. As per the company’s website, you can expect an increase in crop yields by over 30%.

The company, for now, is only focused on the United States, but they do plan to expand to other markets as well. They have raised over $4 million in the latest funding round which includes investors such as Rabo Food and Agri Innovation Fund, UpWest, iAngels, Plug and Play and J-Ventures.

Saving bees is a field in modern agriculture, BeeHive is the smart answer to precision pollination.
